Wolfenstein 3D Confirmed for XBLA

Monday, May 18th, 2009

With Doom and Marathon already available on Xbox Live Arcade, id Software will now complete the classic FPS trifecta with an upcoming release of the original Wolfenstein 3D.

The confirmation came through an oddly low-key approach, with a product page for the game quietly appearing on Xbox.com (via CVG). As you can see on the page, little information is provided, with the release date still listed as “TBD.”

No doubt more information will be coming at E3 next month — as CVG speculates, there may even be a possibility that the game could be released during E3, considering id previously released Doom on XBLA during Microsoft’s X06 event in 2006. It’ll also be curious to see if id plans to release the game on the PlayStation Network as well. Stay tuned.

How the Hell did I miss this?

So it seems that Amazon.com is now selling XBLA games. “How and why are they doing this?” you may be asking yourself.

Apparently they’re selling download codes. You buy them, then input them in in the proper field on the dashboard and there you go.

“Why should I care? Why not just use my points?” you may also be asking yourself. Now slap yourself in the face and yell “Lamont, you big dummy!” in a Red Fox voice. Here’s why. First off you can tell how much shit is. Sure 400 points is 5 bucks, but at 3 a.m. when I’m drunk and downloading new games (pretty much the main time I do this ritual) I can’t be bothered to remember that crap. Secondly, they discount titles that don’t seem to be discounted on XBL. Take a look at Pac Man CE. DISCOUNT. And thirdly, if you have Amazon credit, you can use it to purchase XBLA titles now.

See, I gave you three reasons as to why it’s a good thing. Now go gift me some amazon.com XBLA titles.

Oh, shit. That’s four good reasons.
